Beyoncé Gives Fans A Rare Glimpse Of Adorable Twins, Rumi And Sir

Update 04/01/21: Beyoncé Shares Personal Videos Of Rumi, Sir and Blue on Instagram

Beyoncé is famously private and restricted on social media but over the past couple of years has ended each year with a compilation of videos celebrating hers, her family’s and her fans’ achievements, successes and celebrations throughout the year.

And despite the challenges of the past year, the 24-time Grammy winner did the same for 2020. Acknowledging the struggles that 2020 brought, Beyoncé addressed the Beyhive with an encouraging message, wishing for a ‘better and brighter 2021’, telling fans to ‘celebrate that you are an important individual who contributes to our beautiful collective’.

In the video, the hive was reminded of some good things to happen in 2021, from Beyoncé’s stunning visual, Black Is King, the ‘Savage’ remix with Megan Thee Stallion and her charitable organisation’s Beygood’s various initiatives from mass Covid-testing in the star’s native Houston to launching a fund to support Black-owned businesses.

In addition to these professional achievements, Beyoncé also shared some videos of more personal family moments, including driving a golf buggy with her three-year-old twins Rumi and Sir (while ‘Savage Remix’ blasts out). The 39-year-old is also seen asking her youngest daughter in the clip if she had ‘a good summer’.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s eldest daughter Blue Ivy is also featured in the video, with a compilation of news headlines showing that the eight-year-old has been nominated for a Grammy (for her vocal performance on ‘Brown Skin Girl’) and a BTS clip of Blue recording the vocals too.

Update 03/08/20: Beyoncé’s Twins Rumi And Sir Star In Black Is King

On Friday (July 31st), Beyoncé released her long-awaited Disney Plus project Black Is King.

The ‘labour of love’, which has been in the works for a year, is a re-telling of The Lion King story – accompanied by the song’s from Bey’s album accompaniment to the film, The Gift – celebrating Black excellence, nobility and beauty following a young boy’s journey from birth to adulthood.

It is this notion of a young king finding his journey – which undoubtedly has taken on new meaning and resonance following the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement after the death of George Floyd – which led Beyoncé to dedicate the movie to her son, Sir.

At the end of the film, an adorable video of Beyoncé dancing while carrying Sir is played while a message appears on screen: ‘Dedicated to my son, Sir Carter, and to all our sons and daughters, the sun and the moon bow for you, you are the keys to our kingdom.’

Sir’s twin, Rumi, also appears in the film in a beautiful moment with the women of her family: her elder sister, Blue Ivy, mother Beyoncé and grandmother Tina Lawson, all wearing floral dresses by Zimmerman.

Blue had a number of cameos throughout the film, singing on ‘Brown Skin Girl’ (which also featured Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland and Adut Akech), swinging on a hoop in ‘Find Your Way Back’ and showcasing some major style along with her mother in ‘My Power’.

Original story 02/01/20: Beyoncé’s Twins Rumi And Sir Are Adorable In New Video From Their Second Birthday

To mark the end of 2019, Beyoncé treated the Beyhive to a rare glimpse behind the velvet curtain, by way of a rare series of video clips, documenting family life at home with the Carters.

Of course, Beyoncé’s 2019 throwback video was no regular end-of-the-year summary and included her and husband Jay-Z attending events like the Oscars afterparty, Diana Ross’s birthday celebration, Adele’s birthday bash, and winning a BRIT award. You know, a standard 2019?

But among the unusual montage were typical family scenes such as the twins’ second birthday celebrations.

In the adorable footage, Sir and Rumi can be seen sat outside in front of a ‘TWO’ sign. We then see Sir doing an adorable toddler walk, carrying a toy he presumably received for his birthday.

Moments later, we then see Beyoncé on holiday with her three children all wearing matching pink and blue swimwear. In the adorable snap, the 38-year-old mum of three holds Sir while Blue and Rumi pose for the camera. We like to think Jay-Z was on the other side of the camera telling them to say, ‘cheese’.

The one minute 36 second video ends with a portrait of the entire Carter family, showing Jay-Z and his son in matching tuxedos with bow ties, Blue standing in the middle holding her dad’s hand and Rumi perched on her mother’s knee in cream dresses.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z announced the names of their children in a viral floral-themed, Virgin Mary-slash-pre-Raphaelite photoshoot, in July 2017. While there was initial confusion over whether their son was Sir Carter or Sir Carter Carter, it was later established the twins names were Rumi and Sir, with Rumi being Japanese for ‘beauty’ and ‘flow’.

We also cannot ignore, of course, that another top moment for Beyoncé in 2019, per her video, was gracing ELLE’s January 2020 cover.
